From an early age I have had a strong interest in multimedia computing, electronics and communications technology. When the public Internet became popular (due to the popularity of the Web) around 1992 (at eight years of age) I felt I had found my calling. Computer networking and multimedia application development soon became my forte and my infatuation with the subject has never been stronger.

I have always excelled during my school years whilst maintaining an active social life. At the age of 12 (Year 8 of secondary school) I performed particularly well in end-of-year exams and was invited to advance an academic year. I became the only student of my high school (Bedwas High School) ever to have progressed from year 8 directly into GCSE year, Year 10. In 2000 I completed 9 GCSEs all of which were graded A* or A. I completed four full A levels in 2002 (Mathematics, Chemistry, Computing and Economics) and commenced my university degree course later that year.

At the age of 21, I have completed the final year at Brunel University where I studied a full-time Batchelor of Engineering degree with Honours in Internet Engineering, for which I received a First Classification. The course was part of the School of Engineering and Design at the university, within the Electronic and Computer Engineering faculty. The Internet Engineering course has further developed my knowledge and interest of computer networking, software development, multimedia systems and electronics.

Along with a highly technical understanding of computer architecture and networking I have an excellent comprehension in many areas of multimedia design and manipulation technology. Graphic and 3D design and animation are my forte although music compilation, video editing, print graphic design and photo editing are also strengths of mine. I am fluent in programming languages such as C++, C# and Java with my forte being with Web server-side hypertext pre-processing scripting languages such as Perl, ASP, JSP and PHP.

Electronic gadgetry is a strong fascination I possess. As the portable mobile phone, Personal Digital Assistant (PDA), music player, video player, television and games machine line blurs, my interest in the area only intensifies. This massive increase in inter-connected nodes creates new and wonderful communication methods and opportunities for everybody, along with many new and demanding challenges for the communications infrastructure. These are the challenges I thrive on.

I am currently studying for professional industry recognised qualifications from Cisco, Microsoft, Sun and CompTIA and I hope to complete the certification examinations sometime next year.

Due to my high attainment during my Batchelor's Degree I was awarded a PhD scholarship from Brunel University to research Mobile Commincation Networks. I am part of the PLUTO project research team which is responsible for the development of next generation portable devices (such as mobile phones and PDAs). Broadcasting using the latest DVB-H platform and UMTS networks, mobile phones and such will be able to reveive fully interactive multimedia such as digital television, music and Web pages. This research is now my full-time occupation. Please see the Research section of this site for more information.

Outside of academia, I enjoy learning to play the guitar and keyboard, travelling, and all the usual social activities associated with being a young adult. I often play squash and I'm an active member of the gym.

Eventually, I feel I have the entrepreneurial skills and determination to accomplish building an IT solutions company that will offer expert knowledge and cost-effective hands-on solutions that will cater for individuals' and organisations', be them large or small-scale, electronic communications needs.

I am in awe of communication - especially digital communication. Even with the core knowledge I possess, I still find being able to communicate with a person or machine thousands of miles away on the other side of the planet (or even other celestial bodies) truly phenomenal. My aim in life is to make this communication just that little bit more user-friendly, comprehendible and accessible for everybody.

The Projects section provides a larger insight into the work I do. These include the in-vehicle surveillance system I*SPI (BEng Final Year Project), BMW Carputer project, Examinizer project, WEP and WPA security investigation with Auditor Linux and the Bluetooth security investigation.

On 22nd July 2006 I am embarking on the Mongol Rally 2006 - a 10,000 mile long roadtrip from London to Mongolia in a 1.0litre old banger. I am part of a team of two called the the www.quidgrid.com team. Click here to find out more or even help sponsor us by advertising on our rally car.
